Online Child Therapy
Welcome!
If you've chosen to embark on a unique adventure abroad with your little ones, you know how exciting and challenging this journey can be. Cultural adaptation, socializing with new friends, learning a new language, and adjusting to school can bring emotional challenges. Taking care of the mental well-being of children and adolescents during this phase of change is essential.
My approach is tailored to meet the unique needs of expatriate children moving to a new country. In a playful manner, I develop effective interventions that respect each child's multicultural and individual experiences.
Some common issues addressed in therapy include anxiety, behavior changes, social isolation, excessive irritability, sadness, low self-esteem, difficulty concentrating and organizing, learning problems, phobias and fears, difficulty making friends, bullying, social rejection, cultural identity, hyperactivity, etc.
Key Features
I, Ushi Arakaki, have over 23 years of experience as a psychologist and hold a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from Osaka University, which has provided me with valuable clinical skills in working with immigrants.
During my master's and doctoral studies, I researched Brazilian transnational communities, with a focus on the cultural adaptation of Brazilian children abroad.
I lived in the USA during my childhood, where I had to learn a new language and adapt to a different school system from Brazil. I also studied in Spain and Japan, giving me extensive knowledge of the realities faced by children and youth living abroad.
Online Psychotherapy in English, Spanish and Portuguese: Being treated in their native language facilitates the therapeutic bond and helps expatriate children to express themselves more easily and spontaneously.
Flexible Schedule: I offer a flexible schedule adapted to your time zone, ensuring that your child can fit sessions into their daily routine.
